- DIN EN10270-3:2001-08 adopts EN10270-3:2001; it is retained separately from the 2011/2012 editions.
- The scope is cold-drawn stainless spring wire of round cross-section only. Select the nominal wire-diameter band and calculate tensile strength using actual diameter; units are MPa = N/mm².
- For 1.4310, NS and HS are separate ordered strength conditions and must not be mixed by default. NS/HS labels are not applied to 1.4401/1.4568.
- Table 2 note b: upper limit = the band's minimum tensile strength ×1.15; range within a production batch of the same heat ≤ that minimum tensile strength ×0.09. These requirements and the Table 3 packaging-unit range must be met separately; they do not replace one another.
- Clause 5.5.2/Table 3 concerns the range within one coil, spool, reel or bundle after straightening and cutting: 100MPa for d≤1.50mm and 70MPa for 1.50<d≤10.00mm.
- After straightening, tensile strength may fall by up to 10% (Table 2 note c). The listed data cover the cold-drawn state only; this clause has not been turned into another guaranteed interval.
- A lower tensile strength for improved formability requires explicit agreement by both parties (note d); the table's default limits are not automatically relaxed.
- Tensile strength of delivered cold-drawn wire is not the performance of a finished spring after heat treatment. Annex values for precipitation hardening of 1.4568 are not merged into default delivery strength (note e, 5.5.1 note 2).
- Diameters greater than 10mm and other unlisted diameters require agreement at inquiry and ordering; do not interpolate or extrapolate; Zero or negative wire diameters are invalid.
The Rm upper limit is calculated as the minimum in Table 2 Note b ×1.15; The range within a production batch is calculated as the minimum value ×0.09. Neither is an independent cell-by-cell upper limit in the original table.
