6 source records. Standards, editions and conditions are presented separately; matching grade names do not establish interchangeability.

Refer to each source for mass fractions and analysis type. Missing values are not treated as 0. Manufacturer typical values, standard guarantees and measured heat results must remain separate. Use the material selector for calculations and condition selection.

Estimates are presented separately for each applicable composition condition. Match the actual ordering conditions; ranges must not be combined.

Default heat-analysis range in Table 2
IIW / CEV:0.8400–0.9600 Known-item contribution, not a complete value; missing Cr, Mo, V, Ni, Cu CEV = C + Mn/6 + (Cr + Mo + V)/5 + (Ni + Cu)/15; an engineering estimate of welding cold-cracking susceptibility for carbon and low-alloy steels.

Applicability and limitations

Based on the official Japanese original text of Tables 1/2 and Normative Annex JA of JIS G3506:2024; Heat analysis, mass fraction wt%. Applicable to wire rod intended for further processing into hard-drawn steel wire, oil-quenched and tempered steel wire, prestressed concrete steel wire, galvanized steel strand, steel wire rope, etc.; This standard does not include wire rod for piano wire and wire rod for bridge cables. Cannot be automatically regarded as applicable for cold heading or as a supply guarantee by the company. The default chemical ranges in Table 2 are separate from the narrowed C ranges in JA.1 adopted only by agreement between supplier and purchaser: the upper and lower limits of the agreed range are narrowed inward by 0.01 percentage points each, and are not adopted automatically by default. Alloying elements not listed in Table 2 shall not be intentionally added except for the purpose of finishing steelmaking; Unspecified values shall not be filled as zero, nor shall the complete carbon equivalent be calculated based on this. Clause 9 generally does not specify fixed mechanical properties. Verification shall be performed according to JA.3/JA.4 only when a target tensile strength has been agreed upon and the corresponding agreed delivery condition is adopted; The ±100/±120MPa in Table JA.1 are allowable deviations around the agreed target, not the absolute Rm range, nor a substitute for the target value. Clause 7.1 specifies an average total decarburization layer depth ≤0.20mm; JA.2 may be tightened to ≤0.15mm by agreement. Average total decarburization depth is not the maximum depth of a single field of view; whether to adopt the agreed value must be confirmed separately. Austenitic grain size and non-metallic inclusion limits must be specified by the purchaser and confirmed by agreement under 7.2; a rating cannot be assigned automatically from the grade alone. Table 3 standard diameters are 5.5, 6, 6.4, 7, 8, 9, 9.5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15mm; Table 4: for diameters ≤15mm, the tolerance is ±0.40mm and the out-of-roundness is ≤0.64mm; For >15mm, agreement is required; do not extrapolate. Inspection, sampling, dimensions, surface, and other product standard conditions shall be verified separately; The relationship with the ISO 16120 series is one of modified adoption, which does not equate to automatic interchangeability of grades.

Applicability and limitations

JIS G 3506:2004: clause 3/4 and Table 1 of the English original list SWRH82A high-carbon steel wire rod. This record gives heat analysis, mass fraction wt%, from historical edition 2004, separately from edition 2024; current supply is not assumed. The note to Table 1 permits narrowing each end of the C range by 0.01 percentage points only by mutual agreement; the default range is not narrowed automatically. Clause 5.1: average total decarburization depth ≤0.20mm; inspection may be omitted unless specifically requested by the purchaser. Agreed special-quality, grain-size and inclusion requirements require separate verification. Wire rod under this standard is not automatically equivalent to cold-heading wire or a guarantee of finished-product properties.
