SWRCHB437

2 source records. Standards, editions and conditions are presented separately; matching grade names do not establish interchangeability.

Refer to each source for mass fractions and analysis type. Missing values are not treated as 0. Manufacturer typical values, standard guarantees and measured heat results must remain separate. Use the material selector for calculations and condition selection.

Carbon-equivalent reference

IIW / CEV:0.4733–0.5833 Known-item contribution, not a complete value; missing Cr, Mo, V, Ni, Cu CEV = C + Mn/6 + (Cr + Mo + V)/5 + (Ni + Cu)/15; an engineering estimate of welding cold-cracking susceptibility for carbon and low-alloy steels.
Pcm(Ito–Bessyo):≥ 0.3873Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Cu, Cr, Ni, Mo, V; B has no specified upper limit; the carbon-equivalent upper bound cannot be determined Pcm = C + Si/30 + (Mn + Cu + Cr)/20 + Ni/60 + Mo/15 + V/10 + 5B; mainly used for low-carbon low-alloy steels, particularly modern low-carbon pipeline steels; more relevant when C is approximately no higher than 0.11%.
CET:0.4200–0.5100 Known-item contribution, not a complete value; missing Mo, Cr, Cu, Ni CET = C + (Mn + Mo)/10 + (Cr + Cu)/20 + Ni/40; used in welding preheat assessment for ferritic steels, subject to the applicability conditions of EN 1011-2.

Applicability and limitations

The actual basis is the original Japanese version of JIS G3508-1:2005; This is not a verification conclusion based on the official original text of the 2010 edition. This record covers SWRCHB feedstock wire rod.; The delivery condition, mechanical properties, and applicable standards of SWCHB wire after processing must be confirmed separately; they shall not be automatically interchanged or used to create new supply commitments. B only specifies a lower limit ≥0.0008%, and the original table has no upper limit; general boron upper limits shall not be entered; Unlisted elements shall not be filled as 0. This grade is listed only in Annex 2 (Reference) and does not belong to the 12 normative grades in Clause 3 of the main text. The appendix notes that hardenability data and actual-use records are missing.; The reference chemical table cannot be regarded as a normative delivery guarantee. The chemical table in the appendix contains only six elements: C/Si/Mn/P/S/B; The Cr/Cu/Ni limits and the B/Si remarks from Table 2 of the main text shall not be directly applied to this reference appendix. No guaranteed hardenability, tensile strength, hardness, decarburization, or default delivery specifications are provided based on this.

Verification notes

Annex 2 (informative), Table 1 in the actual original Japanese 2005 edition has been checked; Informative annex only, not a normative main-text grade designation.

Applicability and limitations

Annex JB of the Japanese original version of JIS G 3508-1:2010 is for informational reference; These 12 grades have been separated from Clause 3 of the main text. ; The appendix explicitly lacks hardenability data and records of actual use; JB.1 composition cannot be used as a normative delivery guarantee. ; JB.1 only lists C, Si, Mn, P, S, B; Cu/Ni/Cr limits or B/Si agreement notes from Table 2 of the main text shall not be directly applied. ; This record does not establish suitability for a cold-heading process or a commitment to supply from stock..

Verification notes

Informative Annex JB, Table JB.1 in the original Japanese 2010 was checked row by row; Not a main-text grade designation.
