SCR440WCH

2 source records. Standards, editions and conditions are presented separately; matching grade names do not establish interchangeability.

Refer to each source for mass fractions and analysis type. Missing values are not treated as 0. Manufacturer typical values, standard guarantees and measured heat results must remain separate. Use the material selector for calculations and condition selection.

Carbon-equivalent reference

IIW / CEV:0.6600–0.8567Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Mo, V CEV = C + Mn/6 + (Cr + Mo + V)/5 + (Ni + Cu)/15; an engineering estimate of welding cold-cracking susceptibility for carbon and low-alloy steels.
Pcm(Ito–Bessyo):0.4600–0.5658Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Mo, V, B Pcm = C + Si/30 + (Mn + Cu + Cr)/20 + Ni/60 + Mo/15 + V/10 + 5B; mainly used for low-carbon low-alloy steels, particularly modern low-carbon pipeline steels; more relevant when C is approximately no higher than 0.11%.
CET:0.4850–0.6013Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Mo CET = C + (Mn + Mo)/10 + (Cr + Cu)/20 + Ni/40; used in welding preheat assessment for ferritic steels, subject to the applicability conditions of EN 1011-2.

Applicability and limitations

G3509-2:2003 Clause 3: Raw materials shall comply with G3509-1; The reference in Clause 2 is undated and the latest edition applies. Ordinary steel branch, not the H hardenability guarantee branch. The lower limit of Si may be relaxed by agreement. Records labeled as wire rod on the website require separate verification of the WCH wire grade.. No edition is stated on the website; Displayed under this source edition; contract applicability is not established

Applicability and limitations

JIS G 3509-2:2003: main-text Table 1 lists SCr440WCH steel wire, and clause 9 references JIS G 3509-1. Composition is entered from heat analysis in main-text Table 2 of Part One of the same edition; values are not borrowed across editions. Main-text Table 2 gives heat analysis, mass fraction %. The default Si is 0.15–0.35%; a lower bound below 0.15% requires agreement between purchaser and supplier and is not the default. Note 1 to main-text Table 2: impurities for all grades, Cu≤0.30%. Note 2: Al for grain refinement is added only by agreement. Product-analysis deviations apply only by agreement under Table 4 of JIS G 0321. The actual designations in this edition are shown separately from later editions such as 2005/2010/2021; the historical edition does not establish a current standard or actual supply.

Verification notes

The 2003 edition of Part 2, main-text Table 1 and Clause 9 reference have been verified; composition was entered row by row from the heat-analysis original in main-text Table 2 of Part 1 of the same edition.
