Q295A

1 source records. Standards, editions and conditions are presented separately; matching grade names do not establish interchangeability.

Refer to each source for mass fractions and analysis type. Missing values are not treated as 0. Manufacturer typical values, standard guarantees and measured heat results must remain separate. Use the material selector for calculations and condition selection.

Carbon-equivalent reference

Estimates are presented separately for each applicable composition condition. Match the actual ordering conditions; ranges must not be combined.

Default heat-composition range in Table 1
IIW / CEV:0.1333–0.5400Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Mo; ordering or conditional requirements remain unresolved CEV = C + Mn/6 + (Cr + Mo + V)/5 + (Ni + Cu)/15; an engineering estimate of welding cold-cracking susceptibility for carbon and low-alloy steels.
Pcm(Ito–Bessyo):0.0400–0.3033Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Mo, B; ordering or conditional requirements remain unresolved Pcm = C + Si/30 + (Mn + Cu + Cr)/20 + Ni/60 + Mo/15 + V/10 + 5B; mainly used for low-carbon low-alloy steels, particularly modern low-carbon pipeline steels; more relevant when C is approximately no higher than 0.11%.
CET:0.0800–0.3475Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Mo; ordering or conditional requirements remain unresolved CET = C + (Mn + Mo)/10 + (Cr + Cu)/20 + Ni/40; used in welding preheat assessment for ferritic steels, subject to the applicability conditions of EN 1011-2.
C≤0.18% delivery option for 5.1.1.1 Q295
IIW / CEV:0.1333–0.5600Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Mo; ordering or conditional requirements remain unresolved CEV = C + Mn/6 + (Cr + Mo + V)/5 + (Ni + Cu)/15; an engineering estimate of welding cold-cracking susceptibility for carbon and low-alloy steels.

Applicability and limitations

GB/T 1591—1994, Table 1; Heat-analysis mass fractions wt%. Requirements from other current editions are not backfilled into this edition. V/Nb/Ti/Al in Table 1 are grain-refining elements; 5.1.1.6—8 requires at least one of C/D/E; A/B is optional and, when not added, is neither analyzed nor guaranteed; All four minima must not be imposed simultaneously as default requirements. For all 5.1.1.10 grades, residual Cr/Ni/Cu are each ≤0.30%; Table 1 of Q390/Q420/Q460 separately lists a Cr/Ni limit; interpret it according to whether the element is intentionally added as an alloying constituent. 5.1.1.4 sheet

hot-rolled strip has a thickness exception for the Mn minimum; The Nb minimum for 5.1.1.9 sections and bars is 0.005%; Special forms and contract conditions require manual review. This standard covers high-strength low-alloy structural steels; This does not establish cold-heading wire suitability, actual supply or a default mechanical-property guarantee. Clause 5.1.1.1: delivery may be made with C≤0.18% subject to conditions; Clause 5.1.1.2: when V/Nb/Ti are not intentionally added and C≤0.12%, the Mn upper limit may be 1.80%. Default values in Table 1 do not include these options.
