A322 6150

3 source records. Standards, editions and conditions are presented separately; matching grade names do not establish interchangeability.

Refer to each source for mass fractions and analysis type. Missing values are not treated as 0. Manufacturer typical values, standard guarantees and measured heat results must remain separate. Use the material selector for calculations and condition selection.

Carbon-equivalent reference

Estimates are presented separately for each applicable composition condition. Match the actual ordering conditions; ranges must not be combined.

Table 1 default Si .15–.35%
IIW / CEV:≥ 0.7867Known-element contribution; incomplete value; V has no specified upper limit; the carbon-equivalent upper bound cannot be determined CEV = C + Mn/6 + (Cr + Mo + V)/5 + (Ni + Cu)/15; an engineering estimate of welding cold-cracking susceptibility for carbon and low-alloy steels.
Pcm(Ito–Bessyo):≥ 0.5750Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing B; V has no specified upper limit; the carbon-equivalent upper bound cannot be determined Pcm = C + Si/30 + (Mn + Cu + Cr)/20 + Ni/60 + Mo/15 + V/10 + 5B; mainly used for low-carbon low-alloy steels, particularly modern low-carbon pipeline steels; more relevant when C is approximately no higher than 0.11%.

Applicability and limitations

Original header A322–91(Reapproved2001)e1; note e1 records correction of Table 1 in year 2004, month 5. The full edition is retained, not represented as 2013/2024. Cast analysis wt%. Note A gives maximum incidental contents for elements not otherwise specified or required: Cu≤.35/Ni≤.25/Cr≤.20/Mo≤.06; explicitly specified alloy ranges take priority. Note F: the purchaser may specify Si≤.10%, usually for severely cold-formed parts; default Si .15–.35%. Select the two conditions separately; this does not establish cold-heading supply availability. Note B: adding Pb .15–.35% requires L identification; not included in ordinary grades. This standard covers hot-worked alloy steel bars; coiled dimensions and applicability require supplier confirmation. Product deviations and other composition agreements referring to A29 require separate verification. Original-table UNS G61500; grade column 6150.

Applicability and limitations

The chemical composition currently shown is transcribed from the original ASTM A322-1991(R2001)e1. The previous record cited ASTM A322-2024; that original edition remains unavailable, and differences between editions have not been confirmed. The original file header is A322–91(Reapproved2001)e1; note e1 states that Table 1 was corrected in month 5 of 2004. The full edition designation is retained and is not presented as edition 2013/2024. Heat analysis wt%. Note A gives maximum incidental contents for elements not otherwise specified or required: Cu≤.35/Ni≤.25/Cr≤.20/Mo≤.06; explicitly specified alloy ranges take priority. Under note F, the purchaser may specify Si≤.10%, usually for severely cold-formed parts; the default is Si .15–.35%. These two conditions must be selected separately and do not establish availability for cold heading. Under note B, addition of Pb .15–.35% requires the L designation and is not included in an ordinary grade. This standard concerns hot-worked alloy-steel bars. Coiled dimensions and applicability require supplier confirmation. Product-analysis tolerances and other agreed compositions under A29 require separate verification. The original table lists UNS G61500; the grade column gives 6150.
