39NICRMO3

1 source records. Standards, editions and conditions are presented separately; matching grade names do not establish interchangeability.

Refer to each source for mass fractions and analysis type. Missing values are not treated as 0. Manufacturer typical values, standard guarantees and measured heat results must remain separate. Use the material selector for calculations and condition selection.

Carbon-equivalent reference

IIW / CEV:0.6300–0.8800Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing V, Cu CEV = C + Mn/6 + (Cr + Mo + V)/5 + (Ni + Cu)/15; an engineering estimate of welding cold-cracking susceptibility for carbon and low-alloy steels.
Pcm(Ito–Bessyo):0.4267–0.5667Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Cu, V, B Pcm = C + Si/30 + (Mn + Cu + Cr)/20 + Ni/60 + Mo/15 + V/10 + 5B; mainly used for low-carbon low-alloy steels, particularly modern low-carbon pipeline steels; more relevant when C is approximately no higher than 0.11%.
CET:0.4625–0.6100Known-element contribution; incomplete value; missing Cu CET = C + (Mn + Mo)/10 + (Cr + Cu)/20 + Ni/40; used in welding preheat assessment for ferritic steels, subject to the applicability conditions of EN 1011-2.

Applicability and limitations

Composition is based on Table 3 of EN10083-3:2006 in the official English text of DIN EN10083-3:2007-01, heat analysis wt%. ; Note a: Elements not listed shall not be intentionally added without the purchaser's consent, except for additions needed to finish steelmaking and to enable boron to act on hardenability.; Unspecified values shall not be treated as zero. ; Note b: Small deviations are permitted where hardenability or quenched-and-tempered mechanical-property requirements apply, except for C/P/S; permitted deviations for other elements must not exceed Table 4.; Default heat analysis range shall not be expanded. ; For non-boron steels in this standard, Note c permits steel with improved machinability to be supplied on request: sulfur approximately 0.10%, with the Mn upper limit permitted to increase by an absolute 0.15%.; Approximate values are not default hard upper limits and must be determined by specific inquiry/order; they shall not be automatically mixed with ordinary grades. ; This standard covers alloy steels for quenching and tempering. Suitability for cold heading, wire-rod supply, annealing, surface and dimensions require separate confirmation; do not automatically add products..

Permitted product-analysis deviations (must not be added to heat-analysis limits)

DIN EN10083-3:2007-01 (adopting EN10083-3:2006) · Table 4 and notes a/b, 7.1.2.2; Product analysis specified at ordering follows A.5 · PDF pages 11, 19, 55 · mass fraction wt%; Deviations are expressed in percentage points of mass percentage

The complete standard tolerance table applies only to elements specified in the original table for this grade and to the corresponding content/sulfur-range conditions; it does not widen heat-analysis composition, carbon equivalent or reverse-search ranges.

This is a complete standard deviation table and does not imply that every element for this grade is specified; Elements not listed are not added on the basis of this table. Symmetric deviation for the same heat is permitted in only one direction, either upward or downward; Asymmetric deviation for Pb is only found in the Pb row of EN10087 and cannot be applied to other standards where Pb is not listed. Do not automatically expand heat analysis composition, carbon equivalent, or reverse-lookup ranges.
